Punjab govt returns land rights to 1,005 families in two days

2 min read

The Punjab government has resolved 1,005 land cases in just two days under the new Property Ordinance, restoring ownership rights to families who had been entangled in long-standing legal battles.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the move follows the principle of “ownership belongs to the rightful owner,” enabling over a thousand families to regain possession of their land within 48 hours. The announcement came during a key meeting led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, where officials from the Revenue Department provided a detailed briefing on the implementation of the new ordinance.

During the session, Maryam Nawaz emphasized giving priority to cases involving women and ensuring immediate possession once decisions are made. She stressed that ownership must be visible on the ground and not remain on paper, declaring that every plot, marla, kanal, and acre in Punjab must belong solely to the rightful owner.

The Chief Minister also instructed citizens to report any illegal occupation of their property to the relevant Deputy Commissioner’s office, assuring that decisions will be made within a few days without delay, favoritism, or negligence.

Officials said the rapid resolution of these cases marks a significant milestone in Punjab’s property management reforms and reflects the government’s commitment to delivering timely justice to landowners.
