LHC division bench suspends Sheikh Rasheed’s Umrah permission

1 min read

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Division Bench has suspended a single bench order granting former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed permission to perform Umrah.

The development comes after the FIA and Passport & Immigration authorities filed a petition challenging the approval in the LHC. The Division Bench had accepted the intra-court appeal against the Umrah permission and issued notices to Sheikh Rasheed, seeking his response.

During today’s hearing, the Division Bench, comprising Justice Raza Qureshi and Justice Jawad Hasan, issued a stay order on the permission, effectively putting the travel plan on hold.

The court later adjourned the hearing indefinitely. Following this decision, the scheduled hearing of a separate contempt of court petition against Sheikh Rasheed has also become ineffective.
