Pakistan Shaheens made a strong start in the Asia Cup Rising Stars by defeating Oman by 40 runs in their opening match.
Oman won the toss and elected to field first. Pakistan posted a total of 220 for 4 in their 20 overs. Opener Mohammad Naseem managed 6 runs, while Maaz Sadaqat played a match-winning innings of 96 not out off 54 balls, hitting 5 fours and 9 sixes. Yasir Khan contributed 26, Mohammad Faiq 19, captain Irfan Khan scored 44, and Saad Masood remained unbeaten on 19.
For Oman, Shafiq Jan, Mazhar Raza, J Odahra, and Wasim Ali claimed one wicket each.
Chasing 221, Oman was all out for 180 runs. Captain Hammad Mirza scored 34, while Zakariya Islam top-scored with 57. Other notable contributions included Karan Snowell 26 and Aryan Bisht 2. Several batsmen, including J Odahra and Shafiq Jan, returned to the pavilion without scoring.
Pakistan’s bowling attack was led by Ubaid Shah, who took 3 wickets, while Maaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood claimed 2 wickets each.
