Rawalpindi has inaugurated its first swimming pool built to international standards, along with a modern players’ hostel, marking a significant step in the development of sports infrastructure in the city.
The facilities were officially opened by Punjab Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar, who also announced plans to construct a multi-purpose sports complex in Rawalpindi and expand similar projects to other districts of the province.
According to Faisal Ayub Khokhar, the players’ hostel, costing PKR 18.1 crore, provides 80 beds and offers modern residential and training facilities for athletes.
The newly built swimming pool, constructed at a cost of PKR 21.7 crore, features advanced water filtration, heating, and timing systems to meet international standards.
The minister emphasized that these projects align with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, aimed at enhancing sports infrastructure and promoting athletic talent across the province.
“The restoration of Liaqat Bagh Sports Complex and the inauguration of these modern facilities reflect the Punjab government’s commitment to sports development,” he added.
