Second U.S. crude oil tanker arrives in Pakistan

1 min read

Pakistan has received a second shipment of crude oil from the United States, marking a historic start to bilateral oil trade following a major trade agreement.

According to media reports, the U.S. oil tanker MT Albani is scheduled to berth at Sanjrego Oil’s terminal on Monday evening. This follows the arrival of the first American tanker, MT Pegasus, on October 29, which had left Houston on September 14 carrying U.S. crude.

Sanjrego Oil, which is handling the shipments, imported two cargoes of 1 million barrels each of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil, the first-ever U.S. crude imports into Pakistan. The company received the tanker at its offshore terminal in Balochistan.

The shipments mark the formal start of U.S. crude oil imports into Pakistan, following a trade agreement between Islamabad and Washington aimed at boosting bilateral commerce.

Sources say the imports are part of a broader effort to strengthen energy cooperation and diversify Pakistan’s crude oil supply.
