Prominent educator, researcher, and writer Dr. Arifa Syeda Zahra has passed away in Lahore, leaving behind a legacy of academic and literary contributions.
The news of her death was confirmed by Pakistani playwright and poet Asghar Nadeem Syed, who expressed deep sorrow over her passing.
Dr. Arifa Syeda Zahra completed her BA (Honors) from Lahore College for Women University, earned a master’s degree from Government College University, Lahore, and completed her PhD in History from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
She served as principal at Lahore College for Women University and chaired the National Commission on the Status of Women, in addition to teaching at various educational institutions. Dr. Zahra also hosted programs on PTV, including the show Barah Darwazon Par in Lahore.
President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep grief over Dr. Zahra’s passing, calling it an irreparable loss to Pakistan’s academic and literary community. He praised her lifelong dedication to education, research, and service to humanity, noting that her contributions to scholarship and promotion of the national language will always be remembered.
The President extended his heartfelt condolences to her family, students, and the academic community.
