Health authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have issued an alert, warning of a potential rise in influenza cases across the province from November to April.
According to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department, an emergency advisory has been issued following recommendations from the National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad. The advisory outlines preventive, control and treatment guidelines to curb the spread of the virus.
The health bulletin notes that seasonal influenza cases typically increase between November and April, and has urged vulnerable groups to exercise caution. Those at higher risk include senior citizens, children under five, pregnant women and patients with chronic illnesses.
The advisory emphasizes that the influenza vaccine is an effective preventive measure, particularly for at-risk groups.
It also highlights that simple hygiene practices, such as frequent handwashing and wearing face masks, can significantly reduce transmission.
Health officials have appealed to the public to follow precautionary measures and seek timely medical assistance if flu symptoms appear.
