The Lahore High Court (LHC) has launched a comprehensive upgrade of its record management system on the directions of Chief Justice Aalia Neelum, introducing a series of modern and technology-driven reforms to streamline the handling and security of court records.
According to details, the new system has been implemented to align LHC’s record management with international standards, focusing on transparency, security, efficient preservation, and digital accessibility of case files.
Two additional registrars have been appointed to supervise the revamped record management structure, reflecting the importance of the reform initiative.
Key features of the upgraded system include the introduction of a digital file-tracking system, a computerized movement index, and a copy petition tracking system to ensure transparent and secure movement of documents within the court.
The performance of the Copy Branch has also been enhanced to ensure timely issuance of certified copies to lawyers and litigants. Scanning and digital archiving of active and old case files is under way for long-term preservation.
Administrative reforms have also been introduced to reorganize record rooms, standardize file labeling and classification, and improve the working environment to ensure efficiency and better service delivery.
