Wahab Riaz appointed consultant for Pakistan women’s cricket team

2 min read

Former Pakistan Test cricketer Wahab Riaz reportedly has been appointed as a consultant for the national women’s cricket team, according to sources familiar with the development.

Sources told media that Wahab had already been unofficially associated with the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Department for the past few weeks. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now formally assigned him the consultancy role, under which he will work alongside the Director of Women’s Cricket to shape future development plans for the team.

The appointment comes as part of a broader restructuring in women’s cricket. Sources further revealed that changes to the women’s team support staff are under consideration, with former Test cricketer Imran Farhat likely to be inducted into the coaching setup.

The PCB is expected to announce the new head coach and full support staff for the Pakistan women’s team soon. The head coach position has remained vacant since the completion of Muhammad Wasim’s tenure.

The latest move signals PCB’s intent to strengthen women’s cricket through experienced former male cricketers and a refreshed backroom staff structure.
