The disciplinary actions were taken over the past two months under the supervision of FIA Director General, Riffat Mukhtar Raja. According to an FIA spokesperson, 12 officials were penalised for corruption, misconduct and weak investigation.

Among those dismissed were two inspectors, seven sub-inspectors and one lower division clerk. The dismissed officials were posted in Lahore, Islamabad and Faisalabad zones. In addition, two inspectors were demoted to the rank of sub-inspector.

The spokesperson further said that minor penalties were imposed on three inspectors, ten sub-inspectors, one assistant sub-inspector, one constable, one assistant, two upper division clerks and one lower division clerk for poor performance.

DG FIA Riffat Mukhtar Raja stated that there is zero tolerance for corruption, negligence and poor investigation within the agency. He said a strict accountability process is underway to purge the organisation of “black sheep” involved in unlawful activities.
