The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Rawalpindi has issued the eighth non-bailable arrest warrant against Aleema Khan in the Saddarabad case, following her repeated absences from court.
Judge Amjad Ali Shah of the ATC took the step after Aleema Khan failed to appear despite previous warrants. During the hearing, the court was presented with a report stating that a total of 12 of her bank accounts have been frozen, including those at Bank Alfalah and MCB, with an MCB account holding a balance of PKR 12.4 million.
The court also issued arrest warrants against officials of UBL’s Karachi Head Office and Habib Metro Bank, including manager Syed Mansoor Hussain, for failing to submit the required reports. Similarly, Golden Bank and Bank Alfalah Punjab could not provide the requested information. All officials have been served contempt notices.
The prosecutor told the court that Aleema Khan is deliberately flouting judicial orders, disrupting the criminal justice process, and causing deliberate delays in the trial. The court ordered that details of both movable and immovable assets of Aleema Khan be obtained, with a view to possible seizure in later proceedings.
The ATC directed the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Commissioner of Islamabad to provide property details and instructed the Chairman of SECP to submit records of any companies or shares registered under her name.
Due to the absence of Aleema Khan and her legal team, the testimonies of witnesses could not be recorded during the hearing.
