An accountability court in Sukkur has transferred the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The court, presided over by Judge Ghulam Yaseen Kolachi, heard the case against Khursheed Shah and Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Owais Shah. Khursheed Shah appeared in court along with his son, MPA Farukh Shah, and lawyer Mahsoob Awan.

After the hearing, Judge Kolachi announced that the case concerning assets beyond known sources of income would now be handled by the FIA.

Earlier, NAB had submitted a final challan of over Rs19 crore after six years and requested the transfer of the case to the FIA, citing that the declared assets were worth less than Rs123 crore. Khursheed Shah’s lawyer had sought the case’s transfer to the Anti-Corruption Department instead.

The NAB reference names a total of 18 individuals, including Khursheed Shah, his sons Farukh and Zairak Shah, and nephew Owais Shah.
