Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the Pakistan cricket team on defeating South Africa in the T20 series, praising the players for their spirited performance. “Very well played, Boys in Green,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) following Pakistan’s series-clinching victory in Lahore.
Pakistan beat South Africa by four wickets in the third T20I at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday to seal the three-match series 2–1. After restricting the visitors to 140 runs, Pakistan chased down the target with six balls to spare, thanks to a crucial half-century by former captain Babar Azam.
Posting on X, the prime minister applauded the team’s performance and also praised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and his management for their efforts.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also extended his felicitations to the side, saying it was “another great day for Pakistan cricket.” He highlighted the record attendance of 32,437 spectators at the Gaddafi Stadium which was the highest ever for any cricket match in Pakistan and called it a memorable and historic moment for the sport in the country.
