Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that two major infrastructure projects in the federal capital, the T-Chowk Flyover and the Shaheen Chowk Underpass will be opened to the public in early December.
During a visit to review construction work on both projects, the minister expressed satisfaction over the pace of development. The CDA Member Engineering briefed the minister on progress and current status of the projects.
Mohsin Naqvi inspected construction activities, quality standards and overall progress, directing that the work must maintain high quality, adding that “there will be no compromise on pace and standards.”
The interior minister said that 60% of work on the T-Chowk Flyover has been completed, and the project will be opened for traffic in the first week of December. Once operational, commuters travelling from the GT Road to Islamabad will enjoy a signal-free route, significantly improving traffic flow.
Calling the project a “milestone” in resolving the capital’s traffic issues, Naqvi said easing citizens’ travel difficulties remains a top government priority.
Regarding the Shaheen Chowk Underpass, the minister issued clear instructions for the project to be completed within the next 30 days, with round-the-clock construction to ensure timely delivery. He stressed that the project’s early completion was crucial to reduce traffic congestion, especially during school hours.
Naqvi added that the Shaheen Chowk Underpass would become a modern development landmark for Islamabad, setting a new standard for traffic management and travel convenience in the capital.
