The Punjab Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that vehicles operating without a valid “Green Sticker” or ETS (Emissions Testing System) certificate will be immediately seized after November 15, if found on the roads of Lahore.
Director General of Environment Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh on Tuesday said that exhaust testing has become mandatory for all vehicles in Lahore. The EPA has launched a tough enforcement campaign against vehicles found polluting the city’s air, and has warned drivers that failure to obtain an ETS certification will trigger legal action and vehicle impoundment.
He stated that only vehicles meeting the province’s environmental standards will be allowed to ply on Lahore roads. Dr. Sheikh added that a zero-tolerance policy has been adopted toward “environment-enemy vehicles,” and the public must complete emissions and noise checks promptly.
The EPA has urged vehicle owners to immediately get their vehicles tested and certified, stressing that non-compliant vehicles will be impounded. According to the authority, Lahore’s rollout of the emissions testing scheme is part of a broader strategy to curb smog and hazardous air pollution in the city.
