The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has once again issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, after she failed to appear before the court despite previous summons.
Judge Amjad Ali Shah presided over the hearing of the case related to the protest held on 26 November. Eleven accused are nominated in the case, including Aleema Khan. During today proceedings, five prosecution witnesses and ten other accused appeared in court, along with Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah and his team. However, neither Aleema Khan nor her legal representative appeared.
Taking notice of the repeated absence, the court reissued non-bailable arrest warrants for her for the fifth time and adjourned the hearing until October 30.
Earlier, the court had also ordered the blocking of Aleema Khan’s national identity card, passport and bank accounts. Reports regarding the compliance of these orders have been sought from NADRA, the Directorate of Passport and Immigration, and the State Bank of Pakistan.
The court stated that Aleema Khan has been given multiple opportunities to appear, but her continued absence has left no option except to enforce the warrants.
