The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled a special pink-themed kit for the national team ahead of the first T20 match against South Africa, scheduled to be played on October 28 in Rawalpindi. The initiative is part of the breast cancer awareness campaign known as PINKtober.
According to the PCB, national players will wear the pink jersey during the match to help raise awareness about early detection and treatment of breast cancer. Match officials, including umpires, ground staff, and commentators, will also show support by wearing pink ribbons.
PCB Chief Executive Officer Sameer Ahmed Syed said the board is proud to use the popularity of cricket to promote a vital public health message. “Early diagnosis can save countless lives. We are committed to contributing to social awareness through the platform of cricket,” he said.
The pink initiative will be visible throughout the match, with pink-branded stumps and awareness messages displayed around the stadium.
This marks the first time the PCB is incorporating breast cancer awareness into an international cricket match. Previously, “Pink Day” awareness activities were limited to Pakistan Super League (PSL) fixtures.
The second and third T20 matches will be played in Lahore on October 31 and November 1, respectively. The tour will conclude with a three-match ODI series scheduled from November 4 to 8 in Faisalabad.
