ATC clears Maryam Nawaz in NAB office attack case

1 min read

A Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has acquitted Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in a case involving an alleged attack on the offices of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The case dates back to 2020 when a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Chuhng police station over allegations of stone-pelting and disorder during Maryam Nawaz’s appearance at the NAB office.

According to police records, several officials were injured during the protest. However, in the latest development, the police submitted a report to the court recommending that the case be withdrawn, stating that the allegations against Maryam Nawaz and others could not be substantiated.

Acting on the police report, the ATC accepted the prosecution’s request to drop the case and formally cleared Maryam Nawaz of all charges.

The ruling provides substantial legal relief to the PML-N leader, who has faced multiple political and legal challenges in recent years.
