Sindh police have rescued 25 members of a single family, including a two-month-old baby, who had been held captive and forced into labour for nearly two years in Benazirabad district.
According to the police report submitted to the Sindh High Court (SHC), the victims were freed during a raid conducted at a piece of land owned by Ali Asghar Jamali near Main War Stop in District Benazirabad. The operation was carried out under the supervision of local law enforcement following court directives.
The case was heard by Justice Hasan Akbar, who had earlier ordered the police to act within three days and present an implementation report. Police confirmed that all hostages had been safely recovered and were now under protection.
The victims’ relatives had approached the Sindh High Court seeking their recovery, claiming the family members had been illegally detained and forced to work without pay.
Justice Hasan Akbar commended the performance of the police teams from both concerned districts for their swift and effective action.
The court expressed concern over the prolonged captivity and directed authorities to ensure legal proceedings are initiated against those responsible for the illegal detention and forced labour.
