The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced its withdrawal from the upcoming Tri-Nation T20 Series scheduled to be held in Pakistan this November, citing unspecified reasons.
According to a statement issued by the ACB, Afghanistan will not participate in the tournament, which was set to feature Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.
In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that the series will continue as planned, from November 17 to 29, despite Afghanistan’s exit.
“The Tri-Nation T20 Series will proceed according to schedule,” said a PCB spokesperson, adding that the board is “considering options for a replacement team” and that “a final decision will be made soon.”
The Tri-Nation Series, which was expected to serve as preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup cycle, is now likely to see Pakistan and Sri Lanka compete, with efforts underway to invite another international team.
No official reason has been disclosed by the Afghanistan Cricket Board for its decision to withdraw.
