Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has written a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) seeking permission to meet PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, officials confirmed.
The letter, sent through the Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, requests that the Chief Justice direct the Superintendent of Adiala Jail and the Ministry of Interior to allow the meeting under official supervision.
Afridi stated that following Ali Amin Gandapur’s resignation, he has been elected as the new Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and must consult Imran Khan for “guidance on cabinet formation and key administrative matters.”
He added that he had already approached the Interior Ministry, the Home Secretary, and the Punjab government for permission but had yet to receive approval.
In the letter, Afridi emphasized that it was both a constitutional and moral obligation for him to seek guidance from his party’s leader on governance and inter-provincial coordination issues, including matters related to Punjab’s wheat supply restrictions.
The Chief Minister wrote, “As the elected head of the province and representative of over 45 million people, it is my constitutional duty to consult the party’s patron-in-chief before making key policy decisions.”
Afridi urged the court to allow the meeting in Adiala Jail under official supervision, saying it was necessary “in the public interest and for effective governance.”
