Norway announces it’s Israel’s match revenue to Gaza relief efforts

The Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) has announced that all proceeds from the upcoming football match against Israel will be donated to Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF) to support humanitarian relief efforts for the people of Gaza.

In a statement, the NFF said the decision reflects Norway’s commitment to “solidarity with civilians suffering from the ongoing conflict.” The donation will include ticket sales, broadcast rights revenue, and merchandising proceeds from the match.

According to reports in Aftenposten and NRK Sports, several corporate sponsors have joined the initiative, pledging an additional USD 350,000 to the same humanitarian cause. The combined contribution is expected to provide vital medical supplies and emergency aid to hospitals and relief teams operating in Gaza under severe conditions.

The announcement comes amid increasing criticism from Norwegian football officials, players, and fans regarding Israel’s participation in international football competitions, particularly in light of the ongoing violence in Gaza.

Many have argued that this fixture offers a platform to reinforce Norway’s humanitarian stance and to advocate for accountability in sports diplomacy.

Norwegian fans have also expressed support for the move on social media, calling it a “powerful message of compassion through sport.”

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has been actively involved in providing emergency medical assistance in Gaza, where hospitals and healthcare systems are reportedly overwhelmed by the rising number of casualties.
