Veteran actress Faiza Hasan has voiced support for her colleague Firdous Jamal, asserting that he is repeatedly summoned for interviews over controversial statements rather than his artistic work.
Speaking in a recent interview, Faiza said that despite Firdous’s remarks, she admires his acting and remains a fan. She argued that media and interviewers should shift focus from personal controversies to professional contributions and creative endeavors.
Faiza explained that “whether it is Firdous Jamal or Nasser Adeeb,” the subject of public scrutiny should be their craft, not their private lives. She added that she is confident in the depth of their study and engagement in the arts.
The actress also expressed frustration with certain podcasters who, she alleged, present themselves as journalists but ask sensational questions purely for views, often pressuring guests into contentious topics. She urged both interviewers and artists to exercise mindful speech—interviewers by avoiding provocative questions, and artists by choosing words carefully.
Faiza, who is based in the UK but continues her work in Pakistan, said that fame often brings isolation. She emphasized that in her view, both hosts and guests share responsibility: hosts should avoid sensational lines of questioning, while artists should respond in constructive ways.
Her remarks come amid a wave of public and media attention on statements made by Firdous Jamal about other personalities in the industry, including film star Shahid, prompting debate over the limits of commentary among actors.
