A nationwide polio vaccination campaign will begin tomorrow (October 13) across 159 districts of Pakistan, according to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC).
In a statement, the NEOC said that during the weeklong campaign, more than 45.4 million children under the age of five will be administered polio drops. Alongside the vaccine, children will also receive an additional dose of Vitamin A to boost their immunity.
The national campaign will run from October 13 to 19 across most parts of the country. However, in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the campaign will be conducted from October 20 to 23 due to administrative arrangements.
More than 400,000 health workers will take part in the door-to-door drive to ensure that every eligible child receives the vaccine.
The NEOC urged parents to cooperate with health teams and ensure that all children under five are vaccinated against polio. It further advised that parents complete the full immunization course for children up to 15 months of age to protect them from preventable diseases.
