Security tightened in Rawalpindi ahead of possible TLP march toward Islamabad

2 min read

Security has been tightened across Rawalpindi as the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) prepares for a possible march toward Islamabad on October 10.

According to officials, containers have been placed at Faizabad Interchange to prevent any potential movement toward the federal capital, while hotels along Murree Road and Faizabad have been ordered to vacate. The routes between Islamabad and Rawalpindi remain open for now, but authorities said they would be closed if the situation demands.

A high-level meeting on law and order, chaired by City Police Officer (CPO) Khalid Hamdani, was held to review security measures. The CPO directed police officers to ensure that no road is blocked and that normal life and traffic flow are not disrupted.

He emphasized that any violent activity under the guise of protest would not be tolerated, adding that lawbreakers would face strict action. Hamdani also warned that any attack on public property or law enforcement agencies would be dealt with firmly.

The administration has placed security forces on alert as Islamabad braces for potential unrest ahead of the announced TLP march.
