
After cricket, the sporting rivalry between Pakistan and India will continue on the hockey field as the two nations face each other in the Sultan of Johor Cup in Malaysia on October 14.
According to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), the Pakistan junior hockey team for the event will be officially announced today. The Sultan of Johor Cup 2025 is scheduled to be played from October 11 to 18 at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
A total of six teams will compete in this prestigious under-21 international tournament as Pakistan, India, Australia, England, Malaysia, and New Zealand.
Pakistan will open their campaign on October 11 against hosts Malaysia, followed by a match against England on October 12. After a day’s rest, the highly anticipated clash between Pakistan and India will take place on October 14, expected to draw major attention from fans across both nations.
The Green Shirts will next take on New Zealand on October 15 and conclude the group stage against Australia on October 17.
The Sultan of Johor Cup, first held in 2011, is one of the most competitive junior hockey tournaments in the world. Pakistan has previously won the title once, in 2014, while India has been crowned champions three times.
Officials say the tournament serves as vital preparation for upcoming international junior competitions, including the Junior Asia Cup and the Junior World Cup.
