Rana Sanaullah raises objections to BISP data integrity

1 min read

Prime Minister’s adviser Rana Sanaullah asserted that the government has serious objections regarding the data of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). During comments in Rawalpindi, he questioned the reliability and accuracy of the BISP data used for policymaking.

In his statement, Rana Sanaullah did not specify the exact nature of the objections, but his remarks came amid ongoing debates over the role and reform of BISP. The adviser has recently called for a complete overhaul of the programme, suggesting that it should not be continued in its current form.

Earlier, he had stated on a television show that BISP should either be wrapped up or thoroughly reformed, advocating for programs like “Benazir Rozgar” or “Hunarmand Scheme” that provide skills and employment opportunities rather than direct cash stipends.

While his remarks have sparked discussion, BISP officials clarified that his statements were made in a personal capacity and no formal restructuring is on the agenda at the moment.
