The Islamabad Police have launched a citywide crackdown against traffic violations committed by motorcyclists, following the expiry of a three-day awareness campaign.

According to the police spokesperson, starting today, strict action will be taken against motorcyclists driving without official number plates, using fancy or unauthorized plates, committing lane violations, performing one-wheeling stunts, or riding without helmets.

The spokesperson said that “Lane violations and helmetless riding are extremely dangerous and will not be tolerated,”

Traffic police teams have been deployed on major highways and intersections of the capital to monitor violations. Offending motorcycles are being impounded at local police stations as part of the enforcement drive.

Authorities stressed that all riders must display number plates issued by the Excise Department and wear helmets for their own safety and the safety of others.

The spokesperson appealed to citizens to cooperate and “Show responsibility as law-abiding citizens and support this campaign. It is for your safety and the protection of all road users.”
