The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced disciplinary action against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf, and batsman Sahibzada Farhan following recent on-field controversies.
According to media reports, Haris Rauf has been fined 30 percent of his match fee, while Sahibzada Farhan has received an official warning. The ICC has also imposed a 30 percent match fee fine on India’s Suryakumar Yadav for making a politically charged statement.
The penalties followed hearings conducted by ICC Match Referee Richie Richardson. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had earlier lodged a formal complaint against Yadav for his controversial remarks, while the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) filed complaints against Rauf and Farhan for alleged provocative celebrations.
During the hearing, Farhan denied any wrongdoing, stating: “Pathans celebrate in this manner. It was never intended as a political gesture against India.”
Haris Rauf also rejected the allegations, claiming: “I did not make any political gesture.” When questioned about the “six-zero” hand signal, Rauf responded by asking the match referee what it meant.
Despite their defense, the ICC dismissed Rauf’s explanation and upheld the fine.
The disciplinary rulings highlight ICC’s growing emphasis on curbing political statements and provocative gestures on the field.
