Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan and fast bowler Haris Rauf have submitted their responses to the International Cricket Council (ICC) following a complaint lodged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
According to sources, the hearing was conducted by ICC match referee Richie Richardson, who questioned both players over their actions during a recent match.
Sahibzada Farhan denied any wrongdoing, stating that his celebratory gestures were cultural and had no political intent. “Pathans celebrate this way. It was not meant to prove anything to India,” he told the match referee.
Haris Rauf also rejected suggestions of political signaling. When asked about the meaning of a “6-0” gesture, Rauf reportedly replied by asking the referee himself what interpretation he had in mind.
Officials suggest that both players could face either a warning or a minor fine on their match fees, but no major sanctions are expected.
Meanwhile, a separate complaint filed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) against Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav over his political comments after the match has already been heard. A decision on that case is expected soon.
