In a historic first for international cricket, all match officials at the 13th ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup will be women. The tournament begins on Tuesday and will run until November 2.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) hosted a special ceremony at the Emirates Group headquarters in Dubai to welcome the appointed officials. The event highlighted the move as a major step toward gender equality in global sports.

A total of 14 umpires and four match referees from 10 different countries will officiate throughout the tournament. Their inclusion marks a significant milestone in advancing women’s participation in the game beyond the playing field.

During the ceremony, ICC officials reaffirmed their commitment to supporting women in sports leadership, endorsing the Cricket Future Leaders Program. The initiative aims to provide aspiring women leaders with greater opportunities to progress on the international stage.

The decision has been widely hailed as a progressive move, setting an example for other sports to follow in promoting inclusivity and equal representation.
