The Ministry of Law and the Attorney General’s Office have declared the nomination of Tariq Bugti as President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) legally valid.
The decision came during a meeting of the National Assembly’s sub-committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination, chaired by Sheikh Aftab. Officials informed the committee that Bugti’s appointment by the former caretaker prime minister was lawful and that the PHF General Council had expressed confidence in him.
Additional Attorney General Munawar Duggal said Bugti was tasked with holding PHF elections, a responsibility backed by the federation’s records.
During the session, Bugti maintained that PHF is an independent body and that its Congress had already given him a vote of confidence. He criticized Shehla Raza for attempting to seek a separate confidence vote and accused Haider Hussain of stealing PHF records and trying to take over Karachi Hockey Stadium. Bugti noted that Hussain has been handed a lifetime ban by the federation.
The sub-committee, however, directed the PHF to conduct fresh elections at the earliest to resolve ongoing disputes.
