Women’s Blind Cricket World Cup in Nepal under threat amid political unrest

1 min read

ISLAMABA: The future of Pakistan’s matches in the first-ever Women’s Blind Cricket World Cup has become uncertain due to ongoing political turmoil in Nepal.

Pakistan was scheduled to play its fixtures in Kathmandu from November 11 to 25. However, the deteriorating situation in the host country has put those games at risk.

Syed Sultan Shah, Chairman of the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council and President of the World Blind Cricket Council, confirmed to media that an emergency meeting of the council has been called on Monday to discuss alternatives.
He added that shifting Pakistan’s matches to another country is under consideration, with Sri Lanka emerging as the most likely option.

Originally, India was set to host the entire tournament, but after Pakistan refused to play there, a hybrid model was introduced, moving Pakistan’s matches to Nepal. With the new unrest, the venue could change once again.
