ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed strong solidarity with the people of South Punjab, who are among the hardest hit by the devastating floods.

In a statement issued from the Presidency, the President conveyed his deep sympathy to families displaced from their homes and those whose livelihoods have been destroyed by the calamity. He assured that the government will stand firmly beside the flood-stricken communities in their hour of need.

President Zardari said that rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts are continuing in close coordination with provincial governments, the armed forces, and humanitarian organisations. He stressed that essential aid is being delivered to affected households across the region.

Highlighting the severe damage to agriculture and livestock, the President announced that the federal government has declared an agricultural emergency in response to a request from Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. This step, he said, is vital to protecting farmers, safeguarding food supplies, and ensuring the swift revival of the farming sector.

Calling for unity, President Zardari urged citizens to remain supportive of ongoing relief operations. He expressed confidence that with coordinated efforts, Pakistan will not only meet the immediate challenges but also lay the groundwork for long-term recovery and rehabilitation in flood-affected areas.
