KARACHI: Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has secured significant relief from a New Delhi court in her ongoing legal battle against the unauthorized use of her voice and images through artificial intelligence (AI) technology for explicit content.
According to media reports, Aishwarya’s legal team had filed a petition earlier this month seeking to stop multiple AI platforms from producing or circulating deepfake videos and other objectionable material using her likeness and voice.
The court has now issued an interim order directing online platforms to immediately remove any AI-generated content misusing the actor’s identity without her consent. The court also instructed authorities to track and block websites involved in circulating such material.
Legal experts told that the court’s intervention could set an important precedent in India’s battle against deepfakes and unauthorized AI-generated content targeting public figures.
Aishwarya’s petition also included a list of websites allegedly spreading fake and explicit material under her name and requested the court to ensure that e-commerce platforms stop selling unauthorized merchandise using her image.
The case will formally proceed in January 2026, but the interim relief is being seen as a key victory for the actress in her campaign to safeguard her privacy and reputation.
