
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Energy (Power Division) has released an update on electricity restoration efforts in flood-affected areas across the country, reporting that power supply has been restored to a majority of consumers while work continues in regions where floodwaters are still obstructing access.
According to the Power Division, 51 grid stations and 537 feeders across multiple power distribution companies were damaged during the floods. As of September 11, 294 feeders have been fully restored and 238 partially restored, bringing electricity back to 1,446,604 out of 1,730,100 affected consumers. The remaining 283,496 consumers are expected to have power restored as soon as water recedes.
In the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) region, which covers Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali, and Dera Ismail Khan, 28 grids and 81 feeders were impacted. Of these, 27 feeders have been fully restored and 53 partially restored. Out of 202,436 affected consumers, electricity has been restored to 111,812, while the remaining 90,624 consumers are expected to be reconnected by September 14.
In the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) area, covering Lahore, Okara, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Nankana Sahib, 67 feeders were affected, with 60 feeders fully restored and 7 partially restored. Out of 73,734 affected consumers, 67,203 have regained electricity, and the remaining 6,531 consumers are expected to be restored by September 12. Restoration in Lahore and Sheikhupura has already been completed.
In the Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) region, 174 feeders were impacted. So far, 5 feeders have been fully restored and 165 partially restored, bringing power back to 18,243 out of 199,129 affected consumers. Full restoration is expected once floodwaters recede.
The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) reported 11 grids and 103 feeders damaged. Of these, 96 feeders have been fully restored and 7 partially restored. Out of 735,987 affected consumers, power has been restored to 734,457, leaving only 1,531 consumers awaiting supply, which will be restored once the water subsides.
In the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) service areas, including Swat, Buner, Shangla, Swabi, and Dera Ismail Khan, 12 grids and 91 feeders were affected. So far, 87 feeders have been fully restored and 4 partially restored, with electricity restored to 461,247 out of 463,375 affected consumers. The remaining 2,128 consumers are expected to have power restored between September 11 and 12. Restoration in Swat, Swabi, and Dera Ismail Khan has already been completed.
The Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) reported 18 feeders affected in North Waziristan and Khyber districts. Out of these, 16 feeders have been fully restored and 2 partially restored. Electricity has been restored to 29,978 out of 31,774 affected consumers, while the remaining 1,796 consumers are expected to be restored by September 15, 5 p.m.
In the Hazara Electric Supply Company (HAZECO) region, serving Mansehra, all 3 affected feeders have been fully restored.
The Power Division emphasized that full restoration remains its top priority, adding that progress will accelerate as floodwaters recede in the remaining areas.
