DUBAI: Pakistan’s bowlers have made significant progress in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings following their impressive performance in the UAE tri-nation series, which they won by defeating Afghanistan by 75 runs in the final.
According to the ICC, left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem jumped seven spots to reach 15th place after his crucial two-wicket spell in the final. Star pacer Shaheen Afridi also rose four places, moving to 22nd in the rankings. Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed produced a standout display, taking six wickets in just two matches, which earned him a remarkable leap of 39 spots to 27th.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz was named Player of the Series for his 10 wickets, and his consistent performances pushed him up 13 positions to 30th.
Cricket analysts suggest these ranking boosts highlight Pakistan’s growing strength and depth in bowling, particularly in the shorter format. With the Asia Cup 2025 that is under way in the UAE, Pakistan’s in-form bowling attack is expected to play a decisive role in their campaign, raising hopes of a strong showing on the continental stage.
