ISLAMABAD: President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Atif Ikram Sheikh has said that CPEC Phase Two offers a rare opportunity to take Pakistan-China cooperation to new heights.

He was addressing a promotional event in Islamabad on Wednesday for the upcoming China International Import Expo, organized by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC). The event was attended by business leaders, diplomats and officials from both countries.

Atif Ikram Sheikh highlighted that Pakistan and China have achieved remarkable progress in trade and economic collaboration, with Pakistan’s imports to China increasingly shifting toward value-added goods. He said the Expo provides Pakistan with a strong platform to showcase its brands globally and assured that the country’s business community will ensure active participation.

The FPCCI president further noted that growing investment in agriculture, renewable energy, health and infrastructure sectors in Pakistan is a positive sign. However, he voiced concern over the security challenges faced by Chinese nationals in Pakistan, stressing that the issue needs urgent attention.

The event was also addressed by Yang Guangying, Trade Minister at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, Zhao Bao, Deputy Director General of the China International Import Expo, and senior officials of ICBC.

Atif Ikram Sheikh reaffirmed FPCCI’s commitment to ensuring strong representation of Pakistani businesses at the Expo, describing it as a key step toward deeper bilateral trade and investment ties.
