1.3 Million Flood-Hit Consumers Reconnected, 331,000 Still in Dark: Power Division

ISLAMABAD: The Power Division has released its latest report on the restoration of electricity in flood-affected regions, confirmed that more than 1.3 million out of 1.63 million affected consumers have had their power supply restored.

According to the report, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) areas including Swat, Buner, Shangla, Swabi, and D.I. Khan were among the hardest hit with 12 grids and 91 feeders damaged. Out of 463,375 affected consumers, electricity has been restored to 461,049, while the remaining 2,326 are expected to be reconnected by September 11–12. Restoration in Swat, Swabi, and D.I. Khan has already been completed.

In the jurisdiction of the Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) reported 11 grids and 103 feeders were affected. Of the 735,987 affected consumers, power has been restored to 668,871, while the remaining 67,116 will be reconnected once floodwaters recede.

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) reported 67 affected feeders in Lahore, Okara, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Nankana. So far, 55 feeders have been fully restored, reconnecting 60,661 of 73,734 consumers. The remaining 13,073 consumers are expected to get electricity back between September 7–8.

In the jurisdiction of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) covering T.T. Singh, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Sargodha, Mianwali, and D.I. Khan — 26 grids and 78 feeders were hit. Out of 198,616 affected consumers, only 71,748 have been reconnected so far. The remaining 126,868 consumers are expected to regain supply by September 6–7, subject to water levels falling.

The Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) reported 147 feeders down, affecting 105,972 consumers. Restoration work will begin immediately after floodwaters recede.

In the Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) regions of North Waziristan and Khyber, 17 feeders were affected, with only 7,979 of 31,574 consumers reconnected. Full restoration is expected by September 15.

Meanwhile, the Hazara Electric Supply Company (HESCO) has reported complete restoration in Mansehra, where three damaged feeders are now fully operational.

Overall, the Power Division said that out of 49 grids and 506 affected feeders nationwide, 244 have been fully restored and 254 temporarily re-energized. Electricity supply has been restored for 1,301,283 consumers, while work is ongoing to reconnect the remaining 331,640 consumers on priority basis.
