
Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a record prize fund for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, with a staggering 297 percent increase in total prize money compared to the previous edition.
According to the ICC, the tournament will carry a total prize purse of \$13.88 million, making it the richest Women’s World Cup in history. The winning team will receive \$4.48 million, a massive jump of 239 percent from the \$1.32 million awarded in 2022.
The runner-up side will earn \$2.24 million, while the two losing semi-finalists will take home \$1.12 million each. All participating teams will be guaranteed \$250,000.
In addition, each group stage win will carry a bonus of \$34,314, while teams finishing 5th and 6th will get \$700,000 each, and those ending 7th and 8th will receive \$280,000 each.
The ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 is scheduled to begin on September 30 and will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
Cricket analysts hailed the announcement as a landmark step in promoting women’s cricket and ensuring parity in global tournaments.
