An Ashura night mourning ceremony was held on Saturday at the Husseiniyeh of Imam Khomeini in Tehran, attended by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and a large gathering of people from diverse backgrounds.
The ceremony focused on the themes of resistance, perseverance, and steadfastness in the face of oppression, especially in light of the recent 12-day Israeli aggression against Iran.
Addressing the gathering, Hojjatoleslam Masoud Ali emphasized the universal lessons from the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), highlighting that the Iranian resistance is part of a larger global movement. He described Islamic Iran as the “axis” of a global front of truth and justice, standing firm under Ayatollah Khamenei’s leadership against the “false front” led by global Zionism.
“Drawing from the teachings of Ashura, the Iranian nation will never surrender to the false front, because it has adopted the slogan ‘Never to humiliation’ as its guiding principle,” he said.
Although Ayatollah Khamenei did not address the audience formally, his silent gesture became a memorable moment. According to attendees, the Leader quietly summoned prominent eulogist Mahmoud Karimi during the ceremony and whispered a message to him.
As Karimi began his eulogy, he shared Ayatollah Khamenei’s heartfelt words with the audience: “His Eminence told me to recite this: ‘You will remain in my soul and heart, O homeland…’”
The ceremony was attended by thousands, who gathered to honor the sacrifices of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions, reaffirming the message of standing firm against oppression.
