Petrol, diesel prices likely to go up by Rs5 per liter from July 1

1 min read

Petroleum product prices in Pakistan are expected to rise by up to Rs5 per liter starting July 1, sources said on Sunday.

A carbon levy of Rs2.50 per liter will be imposed on petrol, diesel, and furnace oil from tomorrow. Additionally, the currency exchange rate difference will also be passed on to consumers.

The dollar has so far appreciated by 81 paisas against the Pakistani rupee, which is contributing to the expected price hike.

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is preparing a working paper, which will be submitted to the government today.

The final decision on the price adjustment will be made by the prime minister.
