Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has authorised the disbursement of honorariums amounting to crores of rupees to employees of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over the course of five months.
According to the documents, ECP employees received four rounds of honorariums in January, February, March, and May 2025.
The disbursements were made from the Commission’s allocated annual budget, raising fresh questions about internal financial practices and criteria for such awards.
The honorariums were granted in four distinct phases. Employees in grades 2 to 9 were awarded amounts equivalent to four months’ basic salary, those in grades 11 to 17 received three months’ basic salary, while officers above grade 18 were granted two months’ basic salary as honorarium.
The documents further reveal that employees who had proceeded on leave prior to January 30 were not considered eligible for these benefits, despite their regular service.
