PM Shehbaz commends Trump’s role in maintaining peace

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that United States President Donald Trump had played a substantial role in maintaining peace following heightened tensions between Pakistan and India.

Speaking at an event at the Pakistan Monument in observance of Youm-e-Tashakur, the prime minister said: “The entire nation is standing firmly behind the Pakistan Armed Forces with full strength. On May 10, millions of Pakistanis prayed for the success of our armed forces.”

He added: “Few in history are granted a day like this — one that is remembered for centuries.”

Referring to India, the prime minister said: “The enemy, which once claimed to be the regional hegemon of South Asia, had six of its aircraft shot down by us [Pakistan].”

He continued: “The COAS informed me on the night of May 9 and 10 that India had launched missiles. He requested permission to deliver a befitting response that the enemy would remember.”

“We struck Indian airbases and they struggled to find a place to hide. The COAS called me again to report that the Pakistan Armed Forces had delivered a resounding response and now India is requesting a ceasefire.”

“Today, discussions are taking place around the world about the Pakistan Armed Forces having achieved victory,” the prime minister added.
