2 min read

ISLAMABAD (Internews): The DASU Hydro-power Project has commenced the excavation of the dam foundation pit, marking a critical phase in the construction of this major water conservancy hub

According to a statement released by Energy China on Wednesday, this marks a crucial phase in the development of one of the country’s major water conservancy projects.

The excavation works, which span from an elevation of 715.0 meters to 776.0 meters, are expected to involve a total excavation volume of over 1.22 million cubic meters.

The project team has already overcome significant challenges, including a devastating mudslide in 2022. By optimizing geological surveys and engineering designs, they have successfully implemented a stepped excavation plan, ensuring smooth progress.

Once completed, the DASU Hydro-power Station will have an installed capacity of 5400 MW, which is expected to play a pivotal role in addressing Pakistan’s ongoing power shortages.

In addition to providing sustainable energy, the project is anticipated to generate over 8,000 jobs, support local industries, and stimulate regional economic growth.

Moreover, the project will contribute to Pakistan’s green energy transformation, promoting a more environmentally sustainable energy future.
