Dry weather raises health concerns for children, elderly

Health concerns rose in Karachi as dry weather led to a surge in throat and chest ailments, including dry cough, fever, and throat irritation.

According to details, the medical experts warned that children and elderly individuals, with their weaker immune systems, remained most vulnerable to these seasonal illnesses.

The doctors said, “The combination of dusty air and dry weather is worsening respiratory and throat problems, particularly among children and the elderly.”

Meanwhile, the doctors added that increasing dust in the city aggravated the situation, urging residents to take preventive measures.

Experts advised citizens to avoid cold beverages, consume nourishing soups and broths, and wear warm clothing during evenings.

They also recommended the use of masks when stepping outside to minimise exposure to dust and pollutants.
