Citizens can now apply for passport from any city in Pakistan

1 min read

The Immigration & Passports Office has amended its rules to remove the requirement of having the address on the identity card match the city where the passport is applied for.

The change allows Pakistani citizens to obtain a passport from any city regardless of their residential permanent address on the CNIC.

The revised policy has been formally communicated to regional offices, which will now allow flexibility on jurisdictional boundaries for passport issuance.

According to the directive, no citizen will be denied passport services based on address requirements.

Director General of Passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi said that the adjustment aimed to ease the difficulties faced by citizens, enabling them to apply for passports conveniently from any city.
