Pakistan wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan appointed on Sunday the captain of the national team in white-ball format.

According to details, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi made the announcement. He was flanked by Mohammad Rizwan, Aaqib Javed and Salman Ali Agha. On this occasion, Naqvi said: “Salman Ali Agha will be the vice- captain of the national cricket team.”

Naqvi acknowledged Pakistan’s former captain Babar Azam, saying, “Babar Azam is our asset. Players like Babar Azam come after a long time into the national team.”

He added “I have not asked anybody to include or drop any player in the team. I have never interfered in matters pertaining to the team selection.”

Naqvi said: “If the team emerges victorious by putting up a fight, then the credit will be gone to the entire unit.”

Speaking about Babar Azam, Naqvi said: “Babar Azam has said that he wants to focus on his batting. Following his consultations with coaches, Babar has decided to withdraw the captaincy.”

“Aaqib Javed is the convener of the selection committee,” he stated.

Expressing his thoughts, newly-appointed Pakistan white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan said: “I give you the guarantee that we will show you the fighting spirit in the playing field.”

Meanwhile, Javed said, “We will give opportunity to the youngsters in the megaevents. We are looking forward to forming a team that will be capable enough to play the mega-event.”

“We are looking to bring further improvement in both batting and bowling in the baseball format,” Javed maintained.

“We look to take advantage of the home grounds,” he said.
