4 min read

Cloves are dried flower buds plucked from the clove tree which has a strong aroma. They were initially used as a traditional ancient medicine in China, and later on were used in Ayurveda, the system of medicine of ancient India. Rich in antioxidants, it also has antimicrobial and antifungal properties. Cloves are more than just a refreshment or kitchen ingredient and are known for improving one’s scalp health, reducing inflammation, and nourishing your hair follicles.

They control your scalp from inflammation and promote hair growth, as chronic issues of inflammation can further disrupt your hair growth cycles and can be associated with issues of hair loss, dandruff, or even scalp psoriasis. Cloves also reduce scalp discomfort and itchiness which is a condition created by inflammation. These small flowers prevent hair loss and premature issues of grey hair, improving hair strength, and thickness, and protect against oxidative stress which improves the blood circulation process, enhancing the process of hair growth and active hair follicle activity. Let’s see how one can use clove water for healthy hair.

Step 1: Boil 2 cups of water and add 2 tablespoons of cloves.

Step 2: Boil the water for 5-6 minutes and then turn off the heat.

Step 3: Let the water rest for at least 3-4 hours or preferably overnight.

Step 4: Now, strain the water and put it in an airtight container.

Step 5: Shampoo and condition your hair, and after the cleansing process pour the clove water on the roots, scalp, and strands.

Step 6: Let it seep in for 10 minutes and gently massage your scalp.

Step 7: Rinse your hair and normally air dry it.

Always keep in mind

Always perform a patch test before applying the cloves to your hair and scalp. Apply a small amount of clove oil to the inside of your elbow and leave it on for 15 minutes. If you see any redness, rash, or itchiness, then discontinue the application immediately. Also, avoid contact with your eyes while you’re applying. But, if you experience any irritation or allergy, then immediately stop the use.

Bottom line

If you face any issues with your scalp then consult a dermatologist. It is important to be aware of your health conditions and concerns about your hair loss and scalp.
