Ranbir Kapoor is celebrating his 42nd birthday today, and fans were treated to exciting news about his upcoming projects.

According to a new report, Ranbir is in talks to headline one of Bollywood’s biggest franchises, ‘Dhoom 4’. This will mark his 25th film as an actor. The project, a reboot of the popular ‘Dhoom’ series, is currently under development by Yash Raj Films’ Aditya Chopra.

The report mentions that discussions with Ranbir have been ongoing for a while. A source revealed, “Ranbir has always been interested in joining ‘Dhoom 4’ after hearing the basic concept, and now it’s confirmed that he will lead the franchise. Adi Chopra believes Ranbir is the perfect choice to carry forward the ‘Dhoom’ legacy.”

Unlike the previous installments, none of the original cast members, including Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra, will return. Instead, the report states that two major stars from the younger generation will be cast as the cop duo in ‘Dhoom 4’. With the core storyline now finalized, the team is moving on to the casting process. The report adds that ‘Dhoom 4’ will not only be the biggest in the series, but also a tentpole feature of global standards for Indian cinema.

The last ‘Dhoom’ movie, released in 2013, starred Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan, and Uday Chopra and was a major box office hit. ‘Dhoom 4’ is expected to begin filming by late 2025 or early 2026, coinciding with Ranbir’s milestone 25th film.

Ranbir was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’, which was a blockbuster. His upcoming projects include Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love & War’, where he will co-star with Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.
